6th Form

The new Clivebourne Sixth Form Centre was officially opened on 1st April 2010 by Ed Balls MP. Mr Balls met the current sixth formers for an informal chat before the ceremony, where he unveiled the plaque commemorating the event.

Sixth Form Induction Day: Thursday 1st July 2010, 12.30pm - 4.30pm


Year 11s who have applied for a place in the Sixth Form in September should at 12:15 to ensure a prompt 12:30 start. The programme will begin with presentations in the Auditorium, and an introduction to the Sixth Form team. During the afternoon you will be given information regarding all aspects of Sixth Form life, including the code of conduct and our expectations and aspirations. You will have taster sessions in all your chosen subjects and an opportunity to tell us your ideas and opinions.


Please make sure that you attend in Sixth Form dress code (business attire), you should dress in this formal manner for the Induction Day. Please do not wear jeans, trainers, or very short skirts as this will mean you will have to go home and change. Full details of our dress code policy can be found on our website.


Induction Day is an essential part of the enrolment process, and you should let me know in writing if you cannot attend for any reason. Letters should be addressed to Ms. Nicola Robinson at the Academy, alternatively email on nrobinson1@mossbourne.hackney.sch.uk

SIXTH FORM TERM DATES


All current sixth formers will remain in school after their exams, until Wednesday 21st July, which is the last day of term.

Sixth Form entry in September 2010

External applications have now been processed and all prospective external candidates have been contacted in regards to the outcome of their application.


Sixth FORM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR September 2010


There are three routes of entry to the sixth form at Mossbourne, both internal and external pupils will be expected to meet these academic entry requirements.  Each has its own minimum entry requirements as stated below:

  • Route One:  Level 3 Qualifications

Applicants will have gained 7 A*-C grades including English and Maths. In addition a minimum of 4 B grades are required, and should be relevant to their chosen AS level subjects.  The courses available at this level are:

  • AS Levels from the option blocks
  • BTEC Business Studies (Level 3)
  • Level 3 ICT based course

 

  • Route Two:  Vocational Qualifications

Applicants will have gained 4 or more GCSEs at grades A*-C. The courses available at this level are:

  • BTEC Business Studies
  • ICT programmes of study

APPEALS

In the event of a place not being offered at MCA, the candidate has the right of appeal to an independent panel.
